Oops I missed a day

If you didn't notice, I didn't get to write my blog last night, not because I didn't want to but I am just beyond tired and I couldn't get myself to write it, so I made a decision that my health is more important and I should get some sleep.  Sorry if you guys missed me :-P

The way I would describe my last 2 days was "good" everything worked out very well.  Initially I had to go all over the map on Thur, which part of me was happy that I have a full schedule but the other part of me was feeling tired knowing I have to spent about 4 hours on the road driving.  At the end my appointment at Maple Ridge had to cancel because she got a cold so we reschedule to 2 weeks after.  I also had a class in the evening in Richmond, it was the first time I used the brand new flip chart to do my class, embarrass to say, I need to get familiar with it to do a smooth class for sure.  Although I didn't make any sales on Thur but I know I have planted some good seeds, and like how I was taught by my directors, it's not always about the sales, but it's about planting good seeds.

Friday I decide to leave it for a "catch up on errands day" and that's exactly what I did.  I went to see a speech therapist this morning to try to help me with my speech, than I got my eye brow shaped and dropped off some door prize for a wedding show that's coming up, finally I met up for lunch with my girlfriend.  I even had time to do my laundry and went to do power yoga.  It was definitely something I needed because I was such go go go the last couple of weeks.  BUT what I am proud of myself today is that, even though I did not book any selling appointment I was still showing my passion about Mary Kay.  I contacted 3 of my out of town friends to send them recruiting material and complete a survey for me, which was part of my RJU homework.  I also talked about my business and what Mary Kay can do for my friend that I was having lunch with.  She felt engaged with the idea and will be having an interview with me when I get back.

So by now you are probably asking "where am I going?" hehehe, I am going to be in Vegas with my boyfriend.  YES, Vegas!!! I can't wait.  With that said, I will write one more post tomorrow and than I cannot promise if I will be writing while I am on vacation.  I promise I will try, if not you will for sure hear from me when I get back.

ok, time for bed, I'm heading to a MK event in the morning, I'm sure it will be exciting and fun.

It more than a job

Today I re-affirmed my reason for being a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant, it is more than a job, it is a passion and I really enjoy doing what I do.  I was doing an interview today along with my director for my good friend, during the interview we talked about the company and what Mary Kay is all about.  As my director conduct the interview and going through all the information that the interviewee should know it dawn on me a clear vision of why I love doing Mary Kay so much.  I discover there's real love and care between each lady and we are really there to help other women succeed in their dreams and find what they want and achieve their goal.  This company is alot more than just skin care and color cosmetic, it's about love and customer service, it's about building a relationship with your client, it's about solving their problems and providing their needs.  As i was telling the interviewee about my two interesting clients yesterday, one of them is internally allergic to chemical and the other who have sensitive dry skin, both of these ladies have been struggling to find the product that works for them.  At the end I have done everything that I can to help them and their compliment to me was "it is so great of you to go above and beyond to help me"  That compliment makes me feel so great because I know when I find the solution they will be so happy.

Beyond helping my customer the company also have a wonderful charitable foundation that help women living with cancer and women living through domestic violence.  It is so great to know that the company also like to give back.  To do my share I have decide to take up my fellow business assoiciate idea to give $1 for every face I pamper from now till May 12 as well as donating 5% of all my sales towards Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation (to find out more check out http://www.marykay.ca/vchan2/company/marykayashcharitablefoundation/default.aspx).

It feels so wonderful to work for a company that makes me feel good.

Ordinary day turned out good

My day book wasn't full to begin with and i was going to take today as a leisure day but it turned out to be a busy day for me.  I originally only had one appointment this morning helping a girl out with choosing products that are suitable for her.  She had a very unique issue, she is actually internally allergic to certain chemicals, what is internally allergic you ask?  Well when she use products that have chemical she's allergic to, it affects her organs.  That was a unique problem that I have never dealt with before, so what i ended up doing is to make photocopy of all the ingredients of the products that she is interested in and let her take it home to study.  She was so please with what i did for her that I can tell she feel special.

To make up for yesterday's missed appointment, I booked a replacement appointment today, so I drove to Surrey to visit my new client.  Turns out she had used Mary Kay before when she was in elementary school and she did like it, although she didn't purchase any product from me today but she is interested to sign on as my team member which is even better because I think Mary Kay is such a great opportunity for women so I am glad she wants to join me.

At night time I get to shut off my Mary Kay and get involve with another very important project of mine.  Other than being a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant I am also an Event Planner, and currently my two good friends and I are planning our 3rd Annual fund raiser for BC Cancer Foundation.  The fund raiser will take place in the summer and it's call Wish Upon a Star: An Evening of Hope, we started this event because I am cancer survivor and I want to raise money to give back so more unfortunate patient can get great help.  Thanks to my wonderful friends I am able to turn my dream to reality.  So tonight we have finally decide on our sponsorship package and soon we will be ready to go out and look for sponsors for out event.  As the date draw closer I know the butterflies in my stomach will grow bigger.

Well that sums up my day, it feels so good to have a productive day :)

The New Generation

After the Easter weekend I am all pumped and ready to get back to work, my datebook are filled with bookings this week and i am excited.  First off today I was suppose to be having a facial with a young girl that I met while I was shopping.  She was very excited about learning more on how to take care of her young skin so she can prevent wrinkles in the future and I am so excited to share what I know with her.  But as the facial time approach, I called her to confirm her appointment and she didn't answer my call.  I called 3 times and I finally decide to let it go for now.  Perhaps she got something came up and she couldn't make it to the facial session, it is too bad because I have got something fun planned for her.  I left her a nice message to let her know to contact me to reschedule when she is ready.  Sometimes it is just very difficult to understand why people will make plans with you and not show up.  I will just blame it on the fact that she is still very young and that's the new generation of communication.

Good thing I have been well prepared by my director, she have told me that usually on average when you book 10 facial, only 2-3 of them will successfully hold, many times people have things that are more important come up, more important than facial, so they will re-schedule and occasionally people will just not show up and you will never be able to get a hold of them again.  I learned quickly that it is their lost not mine if they don't show up, it is their lost because they have lost an opportunity to try some great Mary Kay product.  I didn't loose because there will be plenty of faces out there who will want the Mary Kay product, so I moved on.

I used the time that i was suppose to facial her to make phone calls instead and i managed to get more bookings.  And since I did my job and used my time wisely rather than getting upset over a no show, I was able to reward myself with a 2hrs nap so i can be re-charged.

In the evening time, I attended our special consultant only meeting night, directors had shared with us all the great new products and the challenge  for this coming quarter.  It is so exciting to know what we can do to boost our business and also earn some gifts for doing our job.

I have to say I am very happy with my opportunity, I am so glad someone ask.

MK blog day

Today I had some free time to simply typed "mary kay blog" in google search to see what pops up.  I wanted to know how many people out there are writing about their journey on their Mary Kay business but what I found was two very popular blog.  One is the anti-Mary Kay blog - Pink Truth and the other is a counter blog call "Truth About Mary Kay", which post answers and response to posting from Pink Truth.  They are both equally interesting to read but one is very negative and the other is very positive.  I am sure you can take a guess at which one is the positive one, the one that support Mary Kay."Truth about Mary Kay"

I am not saying that the people posting on Pink Truth are lying, I believe those are their true experience but in my opinion I think their fail to succeed in their Mary Kay business cannot be blamed on their director and the company because as we all know, joining Mary Kay is by choice.  Nobody push you to make a decision without thinking about your action thoroughly, therefore, I think their failure are partly induce by them-self.  I didn't read all the negative post on Pink Truth, I think they are too depressing and bitter.  Maybe if those who post on there should find their positive energy again and try something else that they have passion for and do it with dedication.

On the other hand, I enjoyed reading "Truth About Mary Kay" blog because the opinion are much more honest and it's another person's opinion who have a positive Mary Kay experience.  This site basically answers to the negative posting from Pink Truth, the author I gather is a man whos wife is a Marry Kay consultant for some time.  Along with his loyal follower they give their positive opinion about Mary Kay and also keep it very truth.  For the many things I have learned so far as a Mary Kay consultant one thing that I have learned very well for sure is this: Running a Mary Kay business is no different to any other business out there.  It takes HARD WORK, PASSION, DEDICATION and COMMITMENT to succeed.

I found the following Mary Kay wisdom from Truth About Mary Kay, I copied it and post it here to share with my followers and blog readers.  I think they are good wisdom to live by..
